5 Limit Cycles in 3-D Competitive Lotka-Volterra Systems

Abstract:In this talk, we present a new result in the study of limit cycle bifurcations in 3-D competitive Lotka-Volterra systems. In particular, we will show that such systems can have 5 limit cycles in class 27. This provides a positive answer to an unsolved conjecture, and raises a question: Can the 3-D competitive L-V systems have 6 limit cycles?
